Welcome!
We are here to help the whole family find their inner musician. . .so eliminate those "have to's". . .kick back with a canjo, shoebox guitar, or toilet roll kazoo. . .and see what kind of tones you can explore! Music is a wonderful gift to enjoy and we encourage all levels to set aside technique for a while and try freely enjoying the sounds that your instrument has to offer. Allow your musical creativity to flow. We hope you find ideas and encouragement throughout these pages. Come on out and join us at our next event.
Where to find us. . .
You'll be able to find Fiddlin' Dixie with lil' friends at festivals or even libraries and schools. Fiddlin' Dixie visits area preschools and playgroups introducing and demonstrating the violin/fiddle. She also visits local schools to teach stringed instrument techniques using a canjo. Our goal is to help you find enjoyment in the instruments and help kids find music in creative ways. If the expense of a real instrument is too much, we help you find creative ways to enjoy fun cheap versions of different instruments. A shoebox with rubber bands. . .that's all you need to have some pickin' fun! If you do want to learn an instrument, we can help you get started. We also offer workshops.
You can also find Fiddlin' Dixie at the music festivals always ready for a mini-beginners jam with the kids. A Lil' Friends Kiddie Corner is yearly at the Blissfield Bluegrass on the River and other music festivals where Lil' Luthiers try their hand at making homemade instruments. There is plenty of other fun things to do at the Lil' Friends Kiddie Corner as well. . .crafts, games, and instruments to play!
